Adept Training were using a CMS that was starting to date – it didn’t have the flexibility to keep up with the evolving nature of their business.

I based the graphic design on their existing corporate colours and logo. The design is clean, elegant and easy to use. I then turned the design into W3C valid HTML and CSS. From there I created templates for use with the Silverstripe CMS.

I used the JQuery javascript library for a few miscellaneous things to make the site a real joy to use. When you click the search box the text is automatically cleared. Some pages have slide shows. The images are given rounded corners (no time wasted messing around with Photoshop for the Adept Training staff) and the slideshow does a graceful fade transition between each image.

Each page can have PDFs attached, which are displayed with an icon for the user to download.

There is a course registration form which draws description, date and price information from the Course pages, which means that information only has to be entered once.

The Registration form makes extensive use of javascript to populate the drop-down boxes with AJAX calls. Information boxes remain hidden until the user moves their mouse over the help icon, keeping the layout clean but providing explanatory information to the user. Error checking is performed on each page to make sure that the user has entered valid data.

The data is then written to a database and both the user and Adept Training staff are emailed a notification of the registration.

I am very proud of my work on this site and I think it is an excellent example of how my different skills come together to produce a site that is simple and yet powerful. The combination of these two concepts naturally leads to a beautiful site that is a pleasure to use.
